Fantasy Football

First off, Fantasy Football. The last couple years I've been in a fantasy football league with Alison and other family members. There were rumors earlier in the year on this blog that my team was no good. While I was happy to make the playoffs with my 7-6 record, I cruised through the playoffs and came up victorious in the end, winning the final game by 7.

My brother Jordan and I played in our league's fantasy Superbowl II. Throughout the whole season my team averaged more than 10 points per game more than the next best team. The problem was that every week the team I was playing had their best game. In the end, it all worked out though and the Annihilators brought home the coveted Squire/Lombardi trophy.

For the real Superbowl, both Alison and I will be cheering for the same team (unless we are talking about the Jazz or Buffalo Bills this is very rare). While (according to the experts) the Cardinals may be one of the worst teams to ever play in a Superbowl, we'll both be cheering Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald and (my best fantasy receiver) Anquan Boldin on loudly. Go Cards!

Superbowl XLII

Ugly logo notwithstanding, the Super Bowl will still be held tomorrow. While I'm not promising a candy bar to anybody this year, the option is still there and I'm still interested in everybody's predictions (although with the game starting in less than 24 hours I don't expect this post to be read by many). I don't know that I'll actually be cheering for either of the teams. I despise Eli Manning and the Pats are the Yankees (or the Red Sox) of the NFL. I'd be okay seeing them get their 18th win. They certainly deserve it, but I don't think that it's going to come easy. The Giants were arguably the best against the Patriots during the regular season (I think the Ravens deserved to beat them more) and this should be a pretty good game. Of course there's a chance that the Pats will blow them out, while there's probably a slimmer chance that the Giants will win. They've had three impressive wins here in the postseason, so anything can happen.

I've been more into the NFL this year than ever before. I was in a Fantasy Football league with Alison, my dad, brother/brothers in law and one friend. I started out doing very well but was no match for Alison and Jordan (my brother) at the end. Jordan had both Tom Brady and Randy Moss in this their record-setting year and was only beatable the few weeks that the Pats played mediocre games (all of which they still won). I had Carson Palmer, T.J. Houshmanzadeh and Ocho Cinco (Chad Johnson), all from the Bengals - and the Bengals did not have a very good year. The final standings are below. My team was the Salt Lake Sweet Tarts and Alison's team was the Pocatello Powder Puffs.

Colts 29, Bears 17 - Congratulations Ben and Jenn

Superbowl XLI has been decided. The Colts destroyed the Bears 29-17. The Bears started out hot in the first quarter and were quickly doused by the Colts. The star of the game for the Bears was their amazing quarterback Rex Grossman. He finished the game with two fumbled snaps and two interceptions. The Bears finished the game with five turnovers to the Colts three.

I was pulling for the Bears - but I knew full well that the Colts were the better team. I'm happy to see Peyton Manning win the big game. The Colts dominated every aspect of the game and it was amazing that the Bears were as close as they were for most of the game.

Ben and Jenn Iverson won my now infamous 'Guess the score for a candy bar' game. They guessed a final score of 28-21 for the Colts. Their white chocolate reese's peanut butter cups are on there way. Congratualations!

Super Bowl XLI - Who wants a candy bar?

The big show is set. It's going to be the Indianapolis Colts vs. the Chicago Bears in South Florida. I want to hear everybody's predictions.
