Obama is Really a Good Guy

In light of all the news that the government is spying on everybody, Obama is just a misunderstood Good Guy...

Charlie

My brother introduced me to this pretty little film. It's a little strange, but very enjoyable...

Saddle Sore

While at my parents over the weekend, I borrowed my dad's bike. My plan was to use it to ride to school and possibly work in order to conserve gas for our "spend-free April". While it was nice to ride the bike today, I haven't ridden one in probably around seven years and there were a few complications...

First off, I had only gone a few hundred feet when I needed to go up over a curb. I had a very, very heavy backpack (not so bad when you drive a car) and I tried to pull up to jump up onto the curb and... I didn't quite make it. Down I went. It wasn't a hard crash and I landed on the dirt, but I did dirty myself, tear my pants and the contents of my backpack made themselves comfortable all over the dirt (For some reason my backpack doesn't stay closed when it's that full, so I even had to stop a few times after this to retrieve my sandwich and books from the ground). What kind of an idiot can't ride a bike? At least nobody saw, but it wasn't a good start.

It was cold today. Colder than usual and the heavy breathing in the cold air gave me a headache. It was also very windy with a north wind so I was riding into the wind. It doesn't help that I am probably about 40 pounds heavier than when I last rode a bike, needless to say, it was a bit of a struggle to propel myself to school. It's not like it's a long ride to school either, it's only a couple of miles max, but I was pretty tuckered out by the time I got there.

Coming home wasn't too bad except for one little thing (which turned out to be the most miserable of them all). The wind was at my back, I had eaten my lunch so my backpack was lighter, but my crotchal area was as sore as it gets. I tried standing while I pedaled but that felt odd with such a heavy backpack, I tried sitting on one cheek or the other, but I could only ride side-saddle for so long. Now tonight, anytime I sit or move I am reminded of today's little jaunt on the bike.

I haven't given up yet, I just need to work up to it I guess.

Chinese* Tongue Twister...

I had to post this video. One of Alison's friends sent it to her. It's funny and will make all of the boys wince.
*UPDATE (from Abby): She let me know that this video is actually Japanese and not Chinese - oops.

Oh that poor woman...

That poor woman. Even though this happened 8 years ago, it certainly is still a tragedy. In protest, I will never pee on a plane again - Just in case.

A Slew of Funny or Interesting Videos

Support World AIDS Day

It's been a crazy busy week. Nonetheless, I always have time to check out an interesting video or two. You can see I also added the "World AIDS Day' Ribbon to the top of this post. I've got to be honest, I mainly added it becasue it's red and with my green blog background it makes the whole thing look very Christmassy, right? Now turn the volume up, turn the music off (the player is in the top right) and enjoy!

This first video is an incredible one from National Geographic about killer whales hunting seal pups. Seal volleyball anyone? Unfortunately, you have to visit their site to watch - found here.

This next video is one of Alison and my favorites. It's of a baby laughing and we find it simply hysterical and cute as could be. We've got Ada laughing a couple of times - but never quite so much as the baby in this video.

This last video is about giant bat eating centipedes in Venezuela. You can watch it here.

Pigeon Control in Great Britain...

An interesting story appeared on bbc.com earlier this week. It turns out that a pelican (which normally only eats fish) picked up a pigeon and had it in its beak struggling before finally getting the pigeon to go down its throat head first and alive. A little disturbing but interesting all the same:). You can see the article here.

Return the Kids to Target!

I was reading the news online at work earlier this week and next to a story titled "Thousands of Pumpkin Decoration Kits Recalled" I found this picture.

I thought is was funny. You can see the story here, but I believe that they have now changed the caption to correctly read 'kits' and not 'kids'.

For the Birds

I found this little Pixar film on MSN Soapbox. It's clever. Many of you may have already seen it. The real reason for posting this is my curiosity of Soapbox's embedded player. Microsoft is notorious for not making things designed by them user-friendly with other programs. I wanted to see whether or not Soapbox was the same way.

Improv Everywhere

I got an e-mail the other day from Jason Whinham (a friend from High School, studying Health Administration in Richmond, VA) telling me about the website improv everywhere. He directed me to a "mission" that they went on in New York City. Their mission was to go into a Home Depot store and shop normally for a few minutes. Then all at the same time, they would start moving in slow motion for 5 minutes. After that, they would shop normally for 5 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of standing perfectly still. It sounds like a pretty funny concept, especially considering that there were more than 200 people involved. You can read about that mission here.

After reading about Slo-Mo Home Depot, I was browsing their website and came across the mission Rob!. I found this mission especially entertaining, so much so that it was bringing tears to my eyes as I read, I was laughing so hard.

If you ever find yourself in New York City and something strange happens (because nothing strange ever happens in NYC), check out their website www.improveverywhere.com to make sure that you weren't a victim of improvisation.

White and nerdy

Lucky you. Today you can all judge for yourself how you stack up to being white and nerdy. Truth be told, I do pretty well...

Lazy Sunday

I saw this SNL skit on the internet the other day and I just knew that I needed to share it. Here is Lazy Sunday about the Chronicles of Narnia.
