Amsterdam - Day 2

Day 2 - Geithoorn - March 30, 2018

We made it!

Waiting for our luggage.  I'd say we look pretty good for attempting to sleep on a plane.

This trusty Volvo was to be our companion for the next week.

We picked up our car and headed straight to Geithoorn, which was about 1.5 hours from the airport. First item of business was a lunch of crepes.

We picked up a rental boat and started motoring through town. Geithoorn is a small town with limited roads.  Most of the travel within town itself is done by boats on the small canals.

Look at me. I'm a sailor.

Many of these homes are hundreds of years old.

This was just the cutest little town.

Captain Al.

The canals connect to a lake adjacent to the town. We went out to the lake and crossed over to some canals through marshes and reeds.

This is part of a national park in the Netherlands.

We made our way back to town.

Photos on the bridge.

We had to find some ice cream. This is a rule for all tourists in Europe. Eat ice cream every day.

Church shadows.

After Geithoorn we drove to Arnhem (about 1.25 hours away) and checked into our hotel.  I went out searching for food that we could eat in the hotel, and it ended up being Pizza Hut... Apparently you have to request for your pizzas to come sliced, so Alison ate it like a cookie.

Kate was the first to crash. We all followed soon after.

Tomorrow we explore Arnhem and Cologne, Germany!
