Tour de New Mexico - Day 5

Day 5 - July 4, 2018 - El Paso to Albuquerque

Today we made our way back north to catch our flight home.

Happy 4th! We celebrated with breakfast at the Embassy Suites (they had Texas shaped waffles that my daughters still talk about).

All dressed in the red, white and blue!

We stopped at White Sands National Monument (and just a few months after our visit it was elevated to be a National Park).

Yep, still in my onesie, or as my daughters call it, my birthday suit 😳...

Majestic.

McGinn's Pistachioland!

We made it to the airport where everybody took turns on the iPad.

Snacks in Vegas.

I tried my hand at Buffalo Gold to see if I could win enough to pay for our trip. Spoiler alert, I didn't.

Flying over the Grand Canyon.

Looks like we had the plane to ourselves.  One cool thing as we were coming into land in SLC was that we were flying over the valley at around 10PM and there were fireworks all around us.  It was really cool to see the Independence Day celebrations from the sky!  Happy 4th, 2018!

Our next bloggable trip will be a road trip to the north country. Stay tuned!

Tour de New Mexico - Day 4

Day 4 - Carlsbad Caverns to El Paso - July 3, 2018

Today we visited Carlsbad Caverns on our way to El Paso.

Here we are down in the depths of the earth.

Phew, we made it through the caves.  Very cool. Obligatory family photo at the entrance.

Action photo of us getting our latex ready.

Animal family: buffalo, duck, penguin, pig & horse.

Our next stop was at another national park, Guadalupe Mountains NP.

We saw javelinas.

spot the bunny.

We found a little pond.

Please be sure to ask Alison about this photo.

We made our way to El Paso where we were treated to Baskin Robbins!

Tomorrow we make our way back up to Albuquerque!

Tour de New Mexico - Day 3

Day 3 - Santa Fe to Roswell - July 2, 2018

Today we spent the morning at Meow Wolf.

Meow Wolf is an interactive art exhibit/play area.  It originally opened in Santa Fe in 2016.  In the last year they've also opened locations in Denver & Las Vegas.

The photos hardly do the place justice. It was unexpected around every turn.

To enter the main exhibit, you go through the refrigerator.

At the dance and hula hoop party.

After Meow Wolf we went for a drive. It was about 3 hours to our next stop in Roswell.

Of course we went to the International UFO Museum.  A bit of a strange place.  Tomorrow we continue on our adventure to El Paso.
