Tour de New Mexico - Day 1

Now onto our next little trip, this one to New Mexico.

Day 1 - SLC to Santa Fe - June 30, 2018

This trip started early with a 5:30AM flight to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Watching the sunrise.

We visited a highly rated breakfast/southwestern restaurant right by UNM.

Our first adventure was horse-riding in the Sandia Mountains, east of Albuquerque.  The girls weren't sure what to think at first.

Ada on her high horse.

Kate was riding Dewey. It's been too long and we don't remember the names of the other horses.

Alison.

Lyla getting ready to ride her pony.

We rode up in the foothills of the mountain over some easy trails.

Here we are. A regular ol' cowboy family.

We made it back to the ranch.

I don't know what horse ride Lyla liked better.

Our next stop was the cute little town of Madrid for Otter Pops & ice cream.

We stopped by Connie's Photo Park for a bunch of silly photos.

We made it to Santa Fe. Obligatory dinner with green chiles.  This meal was at the Chile Line Brewery.

Alison and I left the girls in the hotel room and went off to a date night at the famous Santa Fe Opera.

It was really a beautiful place. An indoor/outdoor auditorium design specifically for opera.

The opera was ok.  It was our first time to an opera together, I'm not sure that we're quite ready to make this a habit.

Tomorrow we explore Santa Fe!
