Spend-Free April

(I probably better preface this post by saying that it is not an April Fool's Day joke. This is as real as it gets.)

Alison and I are going to try as hard as we can to not spend a dime during the month of April. Automatic payments (for bills, insurance, etc.) are certainly allowed but we will keep our money to ourselves. I'm not sure if we can pull it off or not. We definitely have enough food and toilet paper (barring any unforeseen stomach bugs) here to last through the month. We should have enough gas (if we conserve - or I'll start riding the bus), and barring any medical emergencies we should reach this goal.

A few things that we can't get out of paying for include: rent, health insurance, car insurance and cell phone bills - and I believe that's it for a total of around $990. Wish us luck!

You have inspired me. I am trying to logistically figure out how we could try that. How are you dealing with perishables, such as milk, fruit and veggies? I think those are the main things we need to buy almost weekly. I am curious to hear how you'll do that.

We are in a lucky position because Alison is on WIC and we get peanut butter, eggs, milk, carrots, juice, cheese, etc. for free. We knew all along that we may have to fudge for some produce, but we're going to wait and see how things go.
