Our next trip after South Africa was a quick one to Kauai.
Day 1 - SLC-Kauai - January 11, 2018
Our flight left just after 6 AM to LAX.
We had one goal for this trip and that was to get shaved ice every day. Kauai had lots of excellent options.
Our first shaved ice was from Skinny Mike'sin Lihue. This thing was huge!
We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kapa'a. It was the perfect blend of budget and amenities for us.
The hotel sits right next to Lydgate Beach Park. Anybody who has been to Kauai before will recognize the feral chickens. Most of them had large talons. Luckily the sun went down early, which made it easy to get to bed at a decent time to adjust to the new time zone.
Tomorrow we visit Waimea Canyon State Park.
