Amsterdam - Day 10

 Day 10 - Amsterdam Day 4 - April 7, 2018

Today the highlight was the Anne Frank House and a canal cruise.

Amsterdam is such a picturesque city.

First stop was breakfast.  This strawberry pastry was excellent.

Waiting for the tram.

We passed this store with a pig dress modeled in the window.  Ada was ecstatic.

We had been reading the Diary of Anne Frank as a family prior to this trip.  We only made it about 2/3 of the way through, and we never actually finished it as a family.  The girls will all have to read it on their own sometime.

It was quite difficult to get tickets to visit the Anne Frank House.  Tickets are released something like 60 days before and they are gone within a few minutes.  They go on sale at 9 AM Amsterdam time, so I was getting up at 2 AM Utah time for about a week before I finally scored tickets.  We scheduled the rest of this trip based on the day we were able to get tickets.

A model of the house.  The top right area is where the Franks were hiding I believe.

The Diary and a few other items.

The outside of the house.

Our next adventure was a Lovers Canal Boat tour.  There was an audio guide we could listen to as the boat went through the canals.

These girls got a bit restless.

Uhhh...

Impromptu photo shoot.

More canals! Canals everywhere!

We stumbled on a small farmers market where we bought lunch (and cheese).

Next, we rented bikes for a ride through the Vondelpark.

This might be my favorite photo of all-time.  You can see Alison cruising along in the background.

At the playground.

We weren't the only ones with the idea to head to the park.  It was one of the first warm-ish days of spring.  It was a big park, but as you can see in the backgrounds of these photos, there were people all over enjoying the outdoors.

For dinner we found a tasty Indian restaurant.

Night view of the canal.

Tomorrow we visit the Keukenhof Gardens!
