Amsterdam - Day 8

 Day 8 - Amsterdam Day 2 - April 5, 2018

Today we visited the famous Rijks Museum.

Vermeer is one of my top 5 artists.  We didn't make it to the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague to see the Girl with the Pearl Earring, but we will someday!

Lots and lots of Rembrandts.

When we take the girls to an art museum, we know that we have 2 hours tops before their boredom gets to be too much.  We usually focus on seeing the highlights first, then everything else until the complaining is too overbearing.

The museum had lots of cool ship models.

And a cool library/reading room.

My Mens Vincent (FYI: Mens is man in Dutch).

Big Lego people.

Our next stop was lunch at The Avocado Show.  We found a playground on the way.

I saw a picture of something from this place a few months before we were heading to Amsterdam.  It's always fun to visit somewhere that you've only heard about randomly.

Avocado toast.

Our avocado meals.

Lyla kept the flower from the toast.

We visited the Rembrandt House Museum where Rembrandt lived and worked for more than 20 years.  They were making paint in the same way that Rembrandt had. You couldn't just go down to the corner market for paint.

Coffeeshop Reefer.  Weed, weed everywhere.

Some views around town. Such a lovely city for strolling.

We took the girls to the red light district (they loved it...), then got ice cream afterwards.

Anything that can have hash baked into it will have it.

A big wooden shoe outside of a tourist souvenir shop. Looks more like a boat to me.

Tomorrow: We visit the zoo and the Van Gogh Museum!
