Squires Do Europe - Paris to Barcelona

Day 5 - Paris to Barcelona - August 14, 2016

After a late night last night, we were not looking forward to another early morning.  However, when 6AM rolled around I had to start waking everybody.

Sharing a sleeping kiss.

How romantic.

We picked the hotel we stayed at in Paris due to its proximity to the Gare de Lyon train station.  Our ride to Barcelona was a high-speed SNCF direct train.

After stowing our bags, we made our way to our seats.  The train ride was around 6 hours, and had a top speed of around 190 mph (305 kph).

Yet again breakfast was a chocolate muffin.

Kate and Lyla.

Me, Lyla & Ada.

Al caught some zzzs.

Lots of kindle playing going on.

And before we knew it, we were at the Barcelona Sants train station.

Spain, here we come!

I didn't really have a plan for getting us to the cruise terminal. We lugged our bags onto the subway and made our way down to the coast.  We ended up picking up a shuttle that would take us directly to the cruise port (otherwise it would have been quite the walk with our luggage).

Check-in was a breeze and then we started making our way onto the ship.

The girls were excited to check out our digs for the week. Our cruise was on the Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas.  This ship is brand new and first sailed in May.  It is the largest shop in the world and was amazing.  Lots of fun pics from the ship will follow in the next few posts.

Going up the ramp.

First order of business was to get our suits on and hit the pool deck.  Three waterslides.

The cruise terminal in Barcelona was in a mostly industrial port.  Here we are on the top deck as the ship pulled away out into the Mediterranean.

The kids area.  Lyla is sitting on a toadstool looking thing near the middle of the photo. Ada and Kate are climbing the purple stairs to the slides.

Lyla was stuck in a no-man's land for her size.  She wasn't tall enough to go on any of the waterslides (including that little yellow one above), and because she is too old to wear a swim diaper she was not allowed in the toddler swim area, which also had a few slides. Poor tiny girl.

Swimming.

Swimming on a boat.

Last stop for the day was at the dinner buffet. Lyla and her sisters made sure to try out as many desserts as we would allow.

Tomorrow, we visit Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
