Peru - Day 2

 Day 2 - Lima - June 3, 2018

We didn't have any particular plans today, so we spent the day exploring Lima.

Breakfast at the hotel was alright (American enough anyways).

It was Sunday so we made our way to church.  We sat in the back and pretended that we could understand Spanish.

We stumbled on some High Fitness street dancing.

Our next stop (and according to Kate, our most important stop of the day) was at the Choco Museo.  They taught us how chocolate is made and then we made our own chocolates.

Let's get started!

This was a dream come true for this girl.

What do you do when you've filled up all of the molds?

Sharing some coca tea. This is more common in Cuzco for altitude sickness.

After the Choco Museo, we found ourselves walking through a park where they were selling these items.  I have no idea what they were called, they were covered in a honey-like substance. Not too bad.

Lots of stray cats in the park.

We grabbed a couple of ubers to head downtown to the main plaza.

Peruvian lunch.

Lyla feasted on bread.

Playing hopscotch down the sidewalk.

Stopping by the cathedral to pay our respects.

Trying the picarones.

A closer view of the mountain to the northeast of the city. There was a staircase painted in rainbow colors.

POLICIA.

At the Presidential Palace.

Amazing.

It was right near the World Cup and Peru was in it, so there were futbol fans everywhere.

Another uber ride took us to a park with the Magic Water Fountains.  This was a pretty cool place with all sorts of different fountains and a Bellagio/Disneyland World of Color style fountain show once it was dark enough.

Stuck in the middle.

Fountain tunnel.

How cute.

I can't spot an impostor, can you?

They had an area with carnival style games. Kate tried the trampoline.

Ada did the ropes course.

Most of our photos of the light show are blurry, but here's one for posterity's sake.

Tomorrow, we take a bus to Paracas, a town about 3 hours south of Peru.
