Peru - Day 5

Day 5 - Lima to Cuzco to Aguas Calientes - June 6, 2018

Today was a travel day.  First a flight from Lima to Cuzco, then a van ride to the train station in Ollantaytambo, and a train ride to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu.

We made it to Cuzco on a small plane. Cuzco sits at 11,200 feet above sea level.

Views of Cuzco.

We stopped by an alpaca/llama farm.

Lunchtime.

We stopped for lunch at this restaurant.

Now on the train.

This burro was tied up at the start of the Inca Trail.

Perurail.  There are no roads into Machu Picchu, so if you're coming you're taking the train, or hiking in on the Inca Trail.

Aguas Calientes was a really cool little town.  We really liked the ambience and cozyness of the town.

It's good to make friends with the local celebrities.

Tomorrow, we visit Machu Picchu!
